Working with four tatting shuttles!

November the 30th, 2016

Working with 4 tatting shuttles at a time. :) According to custom order, Princess Alexandra choker is worked with black thread and lavender pearls. Antique lace is my great inspiration. I love to study and recreate authentic tatting patterns from original 19th century books. And there's a lot to learn!!! The set "Princess Alexandra" is created on the basis of one pattern taken from 1866 book written by Eleonore Riego de la Branchardière, one of the ladies that took responsibility to revive tatting at that time. The final result remains to be seen shortly.

A primary version of "Princess Alexandra" choker: yellowish colour of antique lace, adorned with ivory pearls. Each and every pearl is tatted into the lace.

A picture taken from 1866 book by Eleonore Riego de la Branchardière. This was my source of inspiration. However, I still had to discover how to tat in the hanging pearls so that they would keep their front side straight. :)
